Police tape off street in Northampton neighbourhood while they respond to incident

Police were called to tape cordon off a road in Northampton on Sunday night (April 23) following a fatal stabbing.
There was a heavy police presence spotted in the Far Cotton area on Sunday. New South Bridge Road, near to the University of Northampton’s Waterside campus, was taped off a blue tent was erected.

Hide AdNorthamptonshire Police has now confirmed a 19-year-old man was stabbed and died at the scene. A murder investigation has been launched.
Four people – two men aged 19, one man aged 18 and one woman aged 18 – have been arrested in connection with the incident. All remain in police custody.
Speaking at the scene of the incident, Superintendent Rachel Hanford said the police force believes the incident was a “targeted attack”.
The university has also released a statement to say it will assist police with their enquiries and support students.
