Children from a Northampton primary school have exceeded their target of collecting 1,600 presents to send to disadvantaged youngsters in Kenya.
Scooters, bicycles, toys, dolls and even a wheelchair were among the items donated by Weston Favell Primary School to Chemwa School as part of the project.

The students helped load a Wrefords Transport lorry yesterday and will now track the progress of the gifts until they reach Africa.

Headteacher Jill Ramshaw said: "The children had a lot of fun loading the lorry up; we had chains of students passing boxes along.

"I think they got an enormous sense of achievement seeing everything they collected being packed off to Kenya. We will be keeping an eye on the lorry because we know exactly which container it will be in, and the name of the ship, so we will be able to follow it all the way there."

The children collected enough boxes for each student at Chemwa School, and the surplus will be sent to another school in Nairobi.

This is definately something to be proud of. I went to Weston Favell Upper School a few years back and im glad. Weston Favell Primary School has made a difference and put a smile on some kids out there and they will cherish this forever. You do not understand how some people out there are struggling unless you have been ther yourself to witness. Well Done

Is this part of Operation Christmas child,or its secular version,"boxes for Africa"?I don't mind the copying of the Samaritans trust scheme, but people should know what they supporting!
