Police crackdown on dangerous car parkers outside schools
Published Date:

Police in Northampton are carrying out a road safety operation at schools during the next fortnight to stop parked cars from endangering children's lives.
The focus will be on schools in the Delapre and Briar Hill Safer Community Team areas, following several complaints about the standard of parking during drop off and pick up times.
Police Community Support Officer Chris Bates said: "Cars are being parked on the pavement, across the school zig zag lines and across double yellow lines.
"There have also been complaints about double parking in the middle of the road causing traffic congestion at a busy time of the day.
"Mums and their children are having to step out into the road to get past the vehicles to make their way to and from school."
Officers from the Safer Community Team will be patrolling the schools to issue warnings and advice to anyone who parks dangerously or inconsiderately.
Any re-offenders will be issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice.
