More than a tonne of rubbish was removed from the streets of Kingsthorpe in a big community clean up on Saturday.
Residents of Lincoln and Washington Street joined forces with borough councillors and neighbourhood wardens to don rubber gloves and clean graffiti off the walls and pick litter up from the streets.

Councillor Trini Crake, cabinet member for the environment, said: "Simple things like a big clean-up work wonders. Just by keeping premises clean and tidy and cleaning away graffiti can make a real difference. Our neighbourhood wardens work hard to keep the local community clean and free from litter."

Will Trini give them a refund on their council tax for doing work that we thought we paid the council for?

I agree, and I would be the first to say 'why should we do something which we already pay the council to do',but if we didn't have the flytippers and litter droppers in the first place there would be no need for community clean ups.The authorities need to act more on the litter droppers and flytippers who are dumping allsorts in the early hours.
