Teenager questioned over attempted robbery

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted knife-point robbery near to a parade of shops in Northampton.
The 19-year-old man from Rugby was arrested near Waitrose supermarket in Kingsthorpe after he was allegedly caught tampering with a delivery vehicle.

A 50-year-old male takeaway driver returned to his vehicle at 9.20pm on Tuesday to find the suspect armed with a knife before being threatened and demands made to hand over cash.

The offender then lashed out at the victim with the knife, causing a cut to the back of the delivery driver's neck.

He was taken to Northampton General Hospital but the injury is not thought to be serious.
