Northampton man sets up petition to get county council to adopt housing estate roads
Wayne Hinch, who moved onto the Timken Estate in Duston back in June 2016, has recently reached out to residents in the area on Facebook to ask them if they share his frustrations over congestion on Timken Way South and surrounding roads.
He has set up a petition to get Northamptonshire County Council to adopt Timken Way South and enforce double yellow lines after he claims car parking in the area is “absolutely dire".

“We would thank the community for bringing their parking concerns to our attention,” the spokesman said.
“We will look into this with the developer and consider the best approach.
“It is currently anticipated that the main spine road, and some of the peripheral roads, may get adopted later in the year.”

“The key thing to this is there is only one way on and one way off the estate for emergency vehicles, once it’s blocked up it’s blocked up and they will not get through,” he said.
"Members of the public are parking cars everywhere and anywhere particularly on Timken Way South with no thought of the Highway Code and road safety. We need to work together as a community to get the issue resolved with Northamptonshire County Council. However, in the meantime, everyone needs to think where they park their car for example on a blind bend, within 10 metres of a road junction or at the entrance to the estate.
"Northampton County Council need to come up with a long-term solution to build another access road onto the estate to make everyone's lives easier. The long-term solution, however, cannot include opening up the northern side of the estate with the southern side as this will create a rat run and make things worse."

"I have witnessed accidents and so many near misses and it's simply down to the estate not being adopted and people not being courteous," he added.
Jem Harrison, posting on the Spotted Duston Facebook page, said: “If only people didn’t park on the sides of the roads and used driveways or the smaller side streets... or when visiting the chemist parked inside the car park!
“People remember that you can still be courteous and give way no matter how big your Land Rover, Jag, Audi is.
