Flood alert in place for river Nene
There is a flood alert in place for the river Nene from Peterborough down to Cogenhoe near Earls Barton.
The Government's flood information service warns people about the likeliness and danger of flood with three levels of warning: severe flood warnings, flood warnings, and flood alerts.

An interactive map showing the location of flood alerts shows a band of orange where the river may flood.
Oundle Town Council has warned residents of the flood alert on Twitter.
The council wrote: "Flooding is possible - be prepared avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers."

Hide AdThe Government flood alert said: "Over the weekend, river levels have risen on the Middle River Nene have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Dennis.
"This led to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river.
"We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days."
A river level monitoring point at Islip Sluice near Thrapston shows water levels have increased for days.

Hide AdAs of 4pm today (Tuesday, February 18) the water is at 2.48m. Flooding is possible from 1.85m
The flood alert continues: "Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
"We are monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens.
"We are reviewing the situation in the area incident room and will update this message on Tuesday 18th February or as the situation changes."
