Calling all owners of French Bulldogs in Northampton - bring your pooch along to make friends and feel free to dress them up in their best Christmas outfits

A Northampton-based French Bulldog walking group is calling on all local owners of the popular breed to meet up for a festive stroll.

The French Bulldog Meet & Walk group on Facebook attracts around 50 dogs and their owners to participate in group walks on a monthly basis at Hunsbury Hill Country Park.

The group was set up by “Frenchie obsessed” Sandra Holloway, 57, from Kingsthorpe, in March 2019 because she wanted to meet other French Bulldogs and their owners but could not find a group.

Sandra said: “We are a local friendly frenchie obsessed group that meets once a month to walk and generally socialise our bonkers but adorable breed.”

The group, which has since accumulated more than 700 members, enables canine owners to share their experiences, photos, walking routes or advice and tips on food and pet care.

Sandra continued: “The walks are brilliant. Everyone loves them - especially the frenchies. It has been really good for those dogs that haven't or don’t know how to socialise.

“They come regularly and have started to learn what it is to socialise and play with other dogs. Some take longer than others but slowly they gain their confidence and manners.”

Around 100 French Bulldogs and their owners attended one of the group walks on Sunday, January 30, which Sandra described as “Frenchie heaven.”

The group’s latest monthly walk is set to take place on Sunday, December 4 - but it will have a festive twist.

Sandra is now calling on all French Bulldog owners in Northampton to join the group on their latest walk but dress to impress in Christmas outfits.

Sandra said: “Hopefully the frenchies will be in their Christmas outfits, jumpers or even a bit of tinsel. Some don’t like wearing clothes so it’s not compulsory.

“It's the meeting and socialising that’s more important and fun, hopefully the weather will be kind to us.”

Those wanting to participate must meet the group at the Drover’s Return Cafe at Hunsbury Country Park at 11am on Sunday, December 4.
